SanDisk SecureAccess v3.02 is a fast, simple way to store and protect critical and sensitive files on SanDisk USB flash drives. Access to your private vault is protected by a personal password, and your files are automatically encrypted - so even if you share your SanDisk® USB flash drive or it becomes lost or stolen, access to your files are safe. NOTE: SecureAccess is not required to use your flash drive as a storage device on Mac or PC. SecureAccess is a complimentary data encryption and password protection application.

If you’re using a Mac to encrypt your flash drive, you’ll need to make some slight modifications to that drive beforheand. Windows features its own built-in file encryption software.
Critical:
- The SanDisk SecureAcces Encryption program is a 128-bit AES encryption. - If the password is forgotten, the information stored on the flash drive cannot be retrieved. - There is no 'forgot password' option to reset the password. - If the password cannot be remembered, with or without the password hint available, the files on the drive are not accessible. - SanDisk Customer Care cannot provide a new password or alternative method to access encrypted data. - The drive can still be used by reformatting and reinstalling SecureAccess. - Formatting the drive will erase all data on the drive. Once the process begins, ALL THE DATA ON THE DRIVE WILL BE LOST!

If you only use your USB flash drive on Macs and not Windows-based PCs, there is a very easy way to password protect your data. It involves creating an encrypted disk image, which is basically a storage container for your files. Everything inside the disk image is accessible only to users who know the password that unlocks it. Don’t be frightened by the number of steps listed below – I chose to be overly thorough in some of my explanations to avoid confusion. The actual work that needs to be done by you will only take a couple minutes.

Now when you connect your USB flash drive to a Mac and view its contents in Finder, you will see a DMG disk image file. Double-click this DMG file, enter the password, and it will be mounted for use. Copy, paste, save, and delete files here like you would anywhere else. The one important thing to remember is to eject the disk image first, then the flash drive, before disconnecting it from the computer. This will prevent data corruption and loss. With that said, you’ve got a fully-functioning USB flash drive with data that is encrypted and password protected for your access only.
